James A. Noel

James A. Noel, 76, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Doris M. (Weaver) Noel, who died January 20,1991. Born November 9, 1929, in McSherrystown, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Mary E. (Little) Noel. Jim was retired from Flatbush Golf Course. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown. He was a lifetime member of McSherrystown Home Assoc., the McSherrystown Fish and Game Association, and the former McSherrystown Fire Co. – now Southeastern Adams Volunteer Emergency Services. Jim was also a member of the "Have Gun will Hunt" hunting camp, the Goofy's Club, and the McSherrystown Knights of Columbus. Surviving are three daughters, Veronica A. Linebaugh and her husband, Jimmie of Abbottstown, Susan M. Wessel of East Berlin, and Cynthia M. Noel and Stephen Redding of Hanover; five grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and his friend, Becky Swope of McSherrystown. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Henry Noel, William C. Noel, and Donald A. Noel; and by a sister, Mary Grace Doll. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Annunciation Church in McSherrystown, with the Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel officiating. Burial will be in Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown. Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with a prayer service to be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Annunciation Church Memorial Fund, 26 N. Third St., McSherrystown, PA 17344; or to Annunciation School, 316 North St., McSherrystown, PA 17344.
