I had the honor of growing up with Jeff. Our families did everything together, from camping to cookouts. I remember riding our rusted out bikes down Knight Road at 35 mph from the campground to the 'stream'. Or the time he was spitting watermelon seeds and his mom threatened him, then squished a whole 1/2 of a watermelon over his head. Jeff, it was a hell of a ride! Without you, I would not be the person I am today!

I just want to send my condolences to Marla and the girls. Jeff was a very happy go lucky person and I do not think there was a time I did not see him without a smile on his face. My fondest memory of him was when we were trick or treating on Halloween and Juliet did not want to wear her fairy wings halfway through the neighborhood, Jeff wore them the rest of the way home.

I always looked forward to seeing Jeff up at the campground on the weekends in the summer growing up. Even if it was burning up the emergency brake on the car! I hold those memories very close to me and always will. I'm still in shock over this and send my deepest condolences.

Marla, my sincerest condolences on your loss. I can't imagine the pain of such a sudden loss. Having known Jeff a little in high school--we had a couple classes together--his memory for me is permanently etched as one of a smiling, happy, funny guy. Viewing his photos on Facebook didn't change that view. Clearly, he never lost his zest for life and I have the feeling that he made every day count and that he loved you and his daughters from the deepest part of his heart. May God bless and comfort you in both small ways and big as you pass through your grief.

To the Gray Family:

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Jeff was a good friend of mine in High School... I would've kept in touch but I was glad to have found him on Facebook last year and to catch up with him. He made it cool to be smart and I never saw him with a frown.

I know his friends and family will honor his memory by doing all they can to help Marla and his girls get through this tragedy.
