John H. Hamme Jr., 65, passed away at York Hospital on April 16, 2017. He was the loving husband of Cathy O. (Mowery) Hamme; they would have shared their 7th wedding anniversary on May 5th or 25th.
John was born in York on December 17, 1951 and graduated from Spring Grove High School class of 1970. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for BAE Systems in York for over 47 years. He enjoyed bowling, farming and John Deere Tractors but cherished the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Cathy; he is survived by his sons, John H. Hamme III and wife, Heather of Seven Valleys, and Jason L. Hamme and wife, Robin of Seven Valleys; his daughter, Jennifer K. Long and husband, Lawrence of Dallastown; his mother Loretta J. (Hess) Hamme and her significant other, Carl Alwine of Spring Grove; his stepson, Scott N. Mickley of Orrtanna; his step daughters, Tami L. Martin and husband, Nelson of Gettysburg and Tina L. Rogers of Harrisburg; his grandchildren, Jay, Destinee, Nichole, Nicholas, Emma, Abigail, Nathaniel, Aidan, Conner, Kierstyn and Eleanor; and his great- grandchildren, Isaac, Delilah and Asher. He is also survived by his brothers, Terry E. Hamme and wife, Kathy and Barry C. Hamme and his significant other, Marcia Delaney. He was predeceased by his father, John H. Hamme Sr.
Following cremation, a memorial service in celebration of his life will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove with Rev. Kenneth Reed officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
