John Tinkler Obituary

John E. Tinkler, 63, died Saturday, December 31, 2005, at the York Hospital. He was the husband of Louise (Romano) Tinkler to whom he was married for 38 years. Born September 28, 1942, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late George and Josephine (Wamsley) Tinkler. Mr. Tinkler was the Building Maintenance Supervisor for the Littlestown Area School District Middle School. In addition to his wife, John is survived by two daughters, Victoria Dantel and Veronica Tinkler, both of Gettysburg; one son, John Tinkler, Jr. of Hanover; one foster son, Dev Cauffman of Hanover; five grandchildren; and three brothers, Arthur Tinkler and Richard Tinkler, both of Pawling, N.Y., and George Tinkler of Long Island, N.Y. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Tinkler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 12 E. Hanover St., Bonneauville, with the Rev. Philip DeChico as Celebrant. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, with a Christian Wake service at 8 p.m. An additional viewing time will be held on Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home before proceeding to the church for Mass. Burial will be held at the St. Joseph the Worker Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 424 E. Middle St., P.O. Box 3535, Gettysburg, PA 17325; or to the American Lung Association, 1560 W. Market St., York, PA 17405.
