Lynn Krebs Obituary

SEVEN VALLEYS Lynn W. Krebs, 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Ruth N. (Rohrbaugh) Krebs, Seven Valleys, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on November 6, 2010. Mr. Krebs was born on January 15, 1939, lifelong resident of the Seven Valleys area, son of the late Walter C. and Beatrice L. (Rohrbaugh) Krebs. He was employed as a Finishing Dept. Supervisor at the Seven Valleys Garment Co. for 43 years until its closure in 1999. He then was employed full time with the Leber and Goodling Funeral Homes in York (Shiloh) and Seven Valleys until March, 2011. Lynn was the Office Manager of the Goodling Funeral Service, Seven Valleys. He truly loved his job in the funeral business. Helping people was his passion. Lynn served 47 years with the Seven Valleys Lions Club: past President, past Deputy District Governor, and past Zone Chairman. He was also a Melvin Jones Fellowship recipient. He was a driver with the Seven Valleys Lions Ambulance Club from 1960 to 1981 when he helped to form the current "Tri-Community Ambulance" Club. In 1961 he joined the Seven Valleys Fire Co., where he was a firefighter, fire police, past President, past board member and was past manager of the social hall for over 20 years, where he was well known for his cooking. He was awarded a life membership in 1998. He was a member of the York County Firefighter's and Fire Police Assoc. He served on Seven Valleys Borough Council for over 45 years. He was President and former Mayor. You could often find him tidying up around town or helping someone out, day or night. He loved serving the community and its residents. Lynn was Emergency Management Agency Coordinator for the borough from 1999 to 2009. He volunteered with the York County Probation Office managing community service workers. He served as the borough representative with the York / Adams Area Tax Bureau. Lynn and his wife, Ruth were in the Spring Grove Music Boosters from 1978 to 1984 where they chaperoned many band trips. He was also on the Citizen's Advisory Board for the schools for a time. He was a member, treasurer and council member of the former Trinity Lutheran Church in Seven Valleys until its closure. He then joined St. Paul "Zeigler's" Lutheran Church in North Codorus Twp. There were many more organizations he helped throughout the years. He genuinely loved people and volunteering. In addition to his wife, survivors include, two daughters, Lisa G. Krebs of Seven Valleys and Julie M. (Krebs) Miller and her husband, Gary L. of Spring Grove; beloved grandchildren, Lindsay M. Miller and Kyle A. Miller, both of Spring Grove. He loved going to the beach and spending time with his family and friends. Lynn's funeral service will be held Friday at the Seven Valleys Fire Hall, 35 Main St., Seven Valleys at 7 p.m. Officiating will be, the Rev. Mark Billow and the Rev. Richard Hair. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Lynn's viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the fire hall. In lieu of flowers, due to family allergies, please make memorial contributions in Lynn's name to the Seven Valleys Fire Co., P.O. Box 95, Seven Valleys, PA 17360; or the Seven Valleys Lions Club Scholarship Fund, c/o John McDonald, 49 Maple St., Seven Valleys, PA 17360; or Mt. Prospect Cemetery Assoc., c/o St. Paul "Zeigler's" Lutheran Church, 4258 Zeiglers Church Road, Seven Valleys, PA 17360. Arrangements were entrusted to the Robert M. Goodling Funeral Service, Seven Valleys. The family would like to say "Thank You" to Dr. Tabatabai, Dr. Baselli, the nurses and staff of the Cancer Center at Apple Hill, to the VNA Hospice Doctors and nurses and aides and to all of our family and friends for their prayers, support, care and concern over the last 5 1/2 years. To the Krebs family,
I am so sorry to hear of Lynn's passing.
He was a legend and icon in our community. I was blessed to have known him for many years. Some of the best meals I had were at the Seven Valley's firehall made by Lynn. He was an inspiration to me as Mayor of New Freedom and always gave great advice.
While working for York County EMA I was fortunate to spend time with him at trainings and meetings and of course each time there was a flood.
Lynn was such a caring person and truly loved his family and Seven Valleys Borough. He will sorely be missed by so many. Lynn I will always by grateful for all of your support and friendship.
God Bless
Jeff

Dear Ruth, Lisa, Julie and family: Ruth and Lynn were the first people we met when we moved to Seven Valleys. Ruth, you and Lynn have raised a wonderful family and we are all blessed because of the values you instilled. I will never forget the comfort of knowing that Lynn came to Hershey to bring my first husband's body home to the funeral home after he passed away, and Ruth rode along with him. Comfort beyond imagining. And Lynn also brought his ashes to the house later. If only we could give all of you that same comfort now. Dick and I will miss running into Lynn around the County...at the doctor's office, at the Post Office...and those long chats that ensued. We can say goodbye to the physical remains of Mr. Seven Valleys (I always thought he looked like George Hamilton), but his spirit will always remain with anyone who knew him. Love and prayers, Joyce Watson and Dick Puckett, and all of the Dave Watson family.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
