Millard Wolfe Obituary

Millard A. Wolfe, 86, of York Springs, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at his home. He was the husband of Dorothy (Griest) Wolfe, who died Nov. 17, 1982. Born Dec. 11, 1917, in Latimore Township, Adams County, he was the son of the late Guy R. and Dora (Hinkle) Wolfe. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ, East Berlin, the East Berlin Fish and Game Association, the Heidlersburg Fire Co. and the American Legion Post 674, Mt. Holly Springs. He was a life member of York Springs Union Fire Co. and Ambulance Club. He served in the Navy during World War II and retired after 13 years of service from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Adams County division. Surviving are four daughters, Ruth I. Spangler and Dawn E. Schott, both of East Berlin, Joy A. Lenig of McSherrystown and Karen D. Brodbeck of York; eight sons, Wayne R. Wolf of York Springs, Robert M. Wolfe of Franklintown, Ronald F. Wolfe of Carlisle, Allan M. Wolfe of Hummelstown, Philip H. Wolfe of Franklintown, twin sons, Carl L. Wolfe of East Berlin and Colin L. Wolfe of Wellsville, and Keith L. Wolfe of Baltimore, Ohio; 32 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Pauline Wonders of Dillsburg and Romaine Kennedy and Christine Kemper, both of York Springs. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Harman; a brother, Sam Wolf, formerly of East Berlin; and two sisters, Margaret Rinehart, formerly of East Berlin, and Rosella Kennedy, formerly of Heidlersburg. The service will be held Monday at noon at Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ, 265 Two Churches Road, East Berlin, with his pastor, the Rev. Arthur S. Zeigler, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Feiser Funeral Home Inc., 306 Harrisburg St., East Berlin, and Monday, 11 a.m. to noon, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ, 265 Two Churches Road, East Berlin, Pa. 17316 or to the VNA Hospice, 440 N. Madison St., Hanover, Pa. 17331.

You have my sympathy on the passing of Millard. I remember him very well, as he was my mother, Urath Cutshall's friend for many years until she died. He was very faithful and loving to her. I really liked Millard. He was a great man!
