Esther Cornell Obituary
Esther was born July 26, 1921 in the town of Greenwood to the late Ordo and Martha Ruth (Bennett) Williamson. Esther married Edward R. Cornell who predeceased her in 1977. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Leo and George Williamson.
Esther was a life long resident of Greenwood. She and her husband raised their children on the family farm where she helped run the farm for 36 years prior to Ed's ill health and passing in 1977. She was a member of the Wes tJasper Wesleyan Church and a member of the former Greenwood Grange.
Esther enjoyed gardening, cooking and was a true lover of animals. Her most precious gift was the loved and affection she had for her family. She truly enjoyed her time spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and nephews.
Esther is survived by a son, Larry (Nancy) Cornell, and daughter, Connie Cornell, all of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Joseph Cornell (Lisa Tracy), Daniel (Robin) Cornell and Deanna (Mark) Warriner; three great-grandchildren, Cody Cornell, Ashley and Megan Warriner. Esther is also survived by a sister-in-law, Genevieve Williamson of Greenwood.
The family would like to recognize their appreciation to the care givers who were very helpful at our time of need, Genita Hill, Bonita Hawkins, Patti Williams, Joyce Brotzman; and the doctors, nurses and staff at St. James Mercy Hospital Comfort Care Unit. Thank you.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service. A memorial graveside service will take place for close friends and family, Saturday, July 15, at 4 p.m., in the Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, N.Y., Pastor Todd Mitchell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Esther's name may be made to the West Jasper Wesleyan Church, 2619 County Route 31, Greenwood, N.Y., 14839.
Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
