Frances Clarcq Obituary

COHOCTON – Frances L. Clarcq, 71, passed away early Thursday morning (Dec. 25, 2014) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Frances was born June 22, 1943, in Wayland, the daughter of Robert and Ella (Dunn) Flynn, the youngest of 12 children. She grew up in the Wayland area and was a graduate of Wayland Central School and SUNY Geneseo. Frances lived in Rochester for several years where she and Richard Dennis Clarcq were married Feb. 28, 1970, at St. Mary's Church. In 1972 they moved to Cohocton where they continued to reside. Together they celebrated 44 years of marriage.

Frances taught youth group at St. Pius Church in Cohocton when her children were young. She enjoyed filling out crossword puzzles and listening to audio books. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker, raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and always remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Frances was pre-deceased by her parents, Robert and Ella Flynn, and all her siblings.

She was dearly loved and survived by her husband, Richard Dennis Clarcq; her five children, Veronica (James) Covert of New Port Richey, Fla., Matthew Clarcq (Erika Unger) of Macedon, N.Y., Lynne (Donald III) Russell of Pawley's Island, S.C., Daniel Clarcq of Greece, N.Y., and Marie Clarcq of Rochester, N.Y.; grandchildren, Benjamin, Ethan and Gavin Covert, Vanessa, Christian, Nathan and Evan Clarcq, Paige Swanson and Mariella Russell, Lola and Lea Clarcq, and Alexandrea Gurney; along with several nieces and nephews.

Frances's family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9 a.m., Jan. 3 at St. Mary's Church in Dansville.

Memorial contributions in Frances L. Clarcq's memory may be made to the Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland, N.Y., 14572 or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105. Den, Veronica, Matt, Lynne, Dan and Marie,

We want to tell you how sorry we are for your loss. Frances may have been petite and soft spoken but she was a strong, brave lady. She was a trooper. Fran always had a way of making us feel important. Whenever we had conversations, she was interested in what we had to say – asking many questions.

Frances was a wonderful part of our family. She was a perfect match for our brother and, with Den, raised you five wonderful children.

Frances will be missed, but will live on through you and your children. As lucky as you all were to have Frances, she was also blessed to have all of you. Heaven is lucky to have one of the world's best chocolate chip cookie bakers!
Love,
Kevin and Debbie
