Shirley J. Stefura
Shirley J. Stefura, 93, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 29, 2021 at Hornell Gardens where she had resided since 2018.
Shirley was born March 4, 1928 in Newark, N.J. to Clifton C. and Bernadette (Patnode) Wright. On February 7, 1961 in Woodridge, N.J. she married Michael J. Stefura who predeceased her in August of 2004. She was also predeceased by an aunt, Betty Griffin.
Shirley had been a hair dresser at Miladys Beauty Shop in East Orange, N.J. for 25 years, before moving to the Canisteo Valley in 1968, after which she worked as a cashier at the former Thompson's Grocery Store on Greenwood St. in Canisteo and as a clerk for the former Argenteri Brothers Dry Cleaning in Hornell.
Shirley is survived by a brother Clifton (Georgia) Wright of Canisteo, nephews, Clifton (Roxanne) Wright of Dade City, FL. and Douglas (Stephanie) Wright of Canaseraga. nieces, Cheryl (Mark) Remchuck of Abbeville, S.C., Deborah (Johnny) Deal of Youngsville, N.C. and Suzanne Wright of Canisteo, a cousin Mary Wright of Ephrata, Pa. and a very dear friend Kathleen O'Neal also of Ephrata, Pa. and several great nieces and nephew.
The family will receive friends from Noon-1 pm Monday, Aug. 2nd at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo, where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hours at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
Memorial contributions in Shirley's name may be made to either the First Presbyterian Church, South Main St. Canisteo, N.Y. 14823, the, 4600 Devitt Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45246 or to the American Diabetes Association.

It was an honor to have met Shirley thru Hornell Gardens. She was not just a resident to me , she was a friend. She was sweet and kind. My condolences and she will truly be missed
