Helen Heller Obituary
Helen Heller, a former resident of Scottsbluff, NE. and a 51 year resident of Cypress, CA. , passed away February 18, 2023, four days shy of her 90th birthday.
Helen was born February 22, 1933 in Scottsbluff, the daughter of Sam and Betty Numon. She was a graduate of Scottsbluff High School. Helen obtained her B.A. Degree in Psychology at California State College at Long Beach, CA. and her Master of Arts in Counseling and Guidance at Loyola Marymount University. She taught for 25 years in the Norwalk-LaMirada Schools in California and insisted her Special Ed students be prepared for "life".
Prior to moving to California in 1963, Helen attended Scottsbluff Junior College and worked at The Business Farmer Newspaper in Scottsbluff. Her husband, William Heller, was employed at the Scottsbluff Star-Herald.
Helen was in Hospice for over three years and taken care of by terrific Caregivers and Hospice caregivers in Rossmoor, CA. A private service has been held (at Forest Lawn in Cypress, CA.) to place her next to her husband William Heller, who died in California in the year 2000.
Helen is survived by her son William (II) and daughter-in-law Joan of Rossmoor, CA., and her daughter Annette Hoffman of Cypress, CA.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and all eight of her bothers and sisters, Cecil, James, Eddie, Marie, Ruby, Jennie David, Betty Nix and Polly Hansen.
Helen enjoyed traveling, cruising, swimming, reading, doing the daily crossword puzzle and relaxing in Palm Springs. Helen used her Timeshares in Puerto Vallarta, San Clemente & Carlsbad CA. for years. Helen loved to swim and with her good friend Al, participated weekly in aerobic swimming, not sure if they talked more, laughed more or swam more.
Helen loved to cook handed down family recipes and also enjoyed dinner out drinking her favorites, "Lemon Drops or champagne". Helen loved her meatballs and spaghetti, she was a very generous person.
Helen loved driving (slow) her numerous Ford Crown Victoria's over the years and finally splurged for herself after turning 80, when she bought her "precious 2008 Black Jaguar, XJ Vanden Plas". Helen wanted something sporty and snazzy, something different than her "plain" Crown Vics. While puttering around town, she enjoyed the weekly unsolicited comments from all ages enquiring and commending her on her Jag.
Helen Mae will be missed, but not forgotten.
