Leon Evert Sjostrom

Leon Everet Sjostrom, age 94, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024, in his hometown of Los Alamitos, California. Born on June 19, 1930, in the same city, Leon's life came full circle as he departed in the place he always called home.
Leon was a man of diverse passions and talents. An enthusiastic reader, he discovered both comfort and adventure within the pages of his beloved books. His passion for the skies was unmistakable as he took to the clouds in his long EZ, a plane he and his brother Leroy built together. This hobby offered him a sense of freedom and joy. His interests extended
further; he was also a talented model airplane craftsman, demonstrating his meticulous attention to detail and boundless patience.
Despite his quiet demeanor, Leon's words carried weight, capturing the attention of those around him whenever he chose to speak. His playful and humorous nature was a hallmark of his personality, making every conversation with him entertaining and memorable.
Leon was a beloved family man, survived by his wife, Nancy Sjostrom, and his children, Karie Duncan and Donald Sjostrom. He was a cherished grandfather to Austin Duncan and Jessica Armstrong, and a proud great-grandfather to Conner Armstrong. Leon was preceded in death by his mother, Nora Sjostrom, father, Clifford J. Sjostrom, and brother, Clifford Sjostrom.
A service to celebrate Leon's life will be held at St. Isidore Historical Plaza, located at 10941 Reagan Street, Los Alamitos, CA 90720, on August 17th from 1pm to 4pm. Friends, family, and those whose lives were touched by Leon are welcome to join in remembering a life well-lived, marked by quiet strength and a deep love for his family and hobbies.
