Gladys Cass Obituary

Mrs. Gladys L. Cass, age 63, and resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 22, 2011.
Gladys Loretta Welborn was born on October 16, 1947, in Sulphur, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Calvin McDonald and Lorene (Smith) McDonald. She was raised in Sulphur and received her education in the Chilicco Indian School. She had been a Pawhuska resident for the past 40 years. She was married to Charles Andrew "Chock" Cass on February 20, 1964 in Pawhuska. Mr. Cass preceded her in death in 1999.
Gladys was a 20-year employee of the Pawhuska Public Schools, where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed. Her children and grandchildren brought great joy into her life. In her earlier years, Gladys enjoyed all sports and especially enjoyed playing softball.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles "Chock" Cass; and two brothers, Harold and Alden McDonald. She is survived by her children, Charles "Chock" Cass, Summer Cass; and Danny Cass; foster children, Chris Turley, Kevin Martin and Tim Allen; grandchildren, Jacob Cass, Lauren Leland, Whitney Cass and Jamison Cass; and great-grandchildren, Andrew Cass, Odin Leland, Illyssa Leland, Brianna Cass, Kaylee Eutsler and Danica Cass; and three sisters, Adrean Clary, Mamie Eddy and Pat Skipworth.
Visitation will be Friday, September 23, from 5:00 p.m. until Monday, September 26, at 8:00 a.m., in the Wakon Iron Chapel (corner of Wakon Iron and Bacon Rind, Pawhuska). Indian services will be held at 8:00 a.m., Monday, September 26, and funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the Wakon Iron Chapel. Officiating for the Indian service will be Herman Mongrian Lookout. Shawn Caldwell will preside at the funeral service. Committal prayers and interment will be directed in the Pawhuska City Cemetery by the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
