Joan Beard Obituary

Joan Beard went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, August 2, 2016.
The family will be receiving friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday, August 19th at the funeral home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016 in the Walker-Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jim Griffin officiating. Entombment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: The Gideons International, P.O. Box 3143, Bartlesville, OK 74006-3143.
Joan Mae Beard was born February 6, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA to Albert Vernon and Olive Mary (Powell) Elliott. Joan married William Beard on August 5, 1950 in Washington, DC. As an Army wife, she and her husband were stationed in numerous countries including France, Germany, Japan and states including California. After the service they spent time in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Georgia, Nevada and Wyoming before settling in Oklahoma. Joan enjoyed her career as a licensed practical nurse. She also was very active in her church choir while living in Georgia and was a member of Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church of Bartlesville. Joan is survived by her children: William David Beard and wife Sharon of Granite Bay, CA, Stephen Albert Beard of Albuquerque, NM, Raleigh Elliott Beard of Forrest City, AR, daughter-in-law, Beatrice Beard of Pottstown, PA and son-in-law, John Seybold Jr. of Parker Ford, PA. She is also survived by her brother, David Charles Elliott and wife Cindy of Cody, WY and twin sister, Jean Julia Clark of Bartlesville. Joan was blessed with six grandchildren, one great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Valerie Marie Seybold and brother-in-law, Don Clark. Online condolences for the family can be made at www.walkerbrownfuneralhome.com.
