Mary Alice Jones
Mary Alice (Beall) Jones
Bartlesville - Ms. Mary Alice (Beall) Jones of Bartlesville died on June 23, 2021 at The Journey Home in Bartlesville at the age of 89. Mary Alice was the daughter of Kenneth E and Helen C (Richards) Beall.
Mary Alice grew up in Bartlesville and attended Garfield Elementary, Central Jr. High and College High School from which she graduated in 1949. In high school Mary Alice was a twirler and loved to share her memories of twirling two flaming batons!
Mary Alice spent her first year of college at William Woods University and went on to complete her Child Development course of studies at the University of Oklahoma.
In 1952 Mary Alice married Howard R Jones Jr, after he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy they came back to Bartlesville to live and raise their family. They raised three children which included twin girls, Melinda Jones and Debbie Jones, and one son, Jeff Jones.
Mary Alice was a charter member of the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra and played bassoon for 41 years and served on the symphony board for many years.
Over the years Mary Alice enjoyed being an active member of many organizations, including, the Chapter AW of PEO, where she served as President for a period before serving in other offices of the Chapter. As a mother of twins herself, Mary Alice took it upon herself to start the "Mothers of Twins Club". She also co-founded the local knitting guild. Her many activities included swimming, tennis, waterskiing and playing bridge. Hobbies included reading, knitting, needlepoint, making her own greeting cards, scrapbooking, crosswords, sudokus and crypto quotes.
Even with all her activities, none were as special to her as being a mother. Mary Alice was tireless when it came to her children. She made sure swim meets were met, practices were practiced and studies were completed. Her children's friends were treated like family and many fond memories were made as she shuttled them around and made sure they stayed busy.
Mary Alice was definitely a people person; she would help others before she thought of herself. Anyone who spent time with Mary Alice knew they were in the company of a very special woman.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by Howard Jr., her parents and her brother, Kenneth Beall Jr.
She is survived by her 3 children, Melinda Jones and Debbie Jones of Bartlesville, and Jeff Jones of Dewey, 2 granddaughters, Lindsey Singleton of Ft. Collins, CO. and Tristan Linehan of Bartlesville, and 1 great grandson, Riley Singleton of Ft. Collins, CO.
No memorial service is planned at this time. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Journey Home, 900 N Washington Blvd. Bartlesville, OK 74006 or online at thejourneyhomeok.org.
