Doug Cook Obituary

Teri and Doug Cook passed away peacefully side-by-side from COVID-19 complications on February 10, 2021. In a room at North Kansas City Hospital, their sister shared a final prayer to bless them. As the prayer concluded with, "Amen," the couple passed away within seconds together. It was evident Teri and Doug planned to be in the company of one another and God as they left Earth on their route to Heaven.

Teri Gayle Cook (Lindquist), age 55, of Independence, Missouri passed away on February 10, 2021. She was born January 25, 1966 in Sedalia, Missouri. Teri attended William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri. She graduated from Kansas State University with her Bachelor's of Arts in Education in 1988, followed by her Master's of Arts in Special Education/Behavior Disorders in 1992. She worked as a Special Education teacher for Schilling Elementary School in Salina, Kansas for 11 years, and Independence Academy (formerly Ozanam) for the latter 22 years. Teri married the love of her life Doug Cook in Eureka Springs, Arkansas in 2000. She is survived by her son Cody A. Cook of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter Alexis G. Cook of the home; mother Sherry G. Roberts (Cornelius); sister Kristy K. Anderson (Shawn); nephew Austin C. Anderson (Christina); niece MacKenzie J. Seelbach (T.J.); and her great-nephews and grand-nieces. She was preceded in death by her father Barry L. Lindquist.

Doug Allen Cook, age 53, of Independence, Missouri passed away on February 10, 2021. He was born October 28, 1967 in Salina, Kansas. Doug attended Salina Central High in Salina, Kansas, and graduated from Salina Area Technical School in 1994. Doug married the love of his life Teri Lindquist in Eureka Springs, Arkansas in 2000. He worked as a Service Technician at Food Equipment Repair for nearly 17 years. He is survived by his son Cody A. Cook of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter Alexis G. Cook of the home; brother Lonny D. Cook (Jani); and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Joe D. Cook; mother Linda K. Cook (Arnold); and brother Joe D. Whittington.

A Celebration of Life for the couple will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Truman Memorial Building gymnasium, located at 416 W. Maple Independence, MO 64050. Visitation will start at 1 p.m. and the service will start at 3 p.m.
