Gregory Spartz Obituary
He was born March 3, 1932, in Watertown S.D., to Nicholas and Agnes (Staudacher) Spartz. Greg was united in marriage to Wilma Ann Thyer, who preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and attended A & M Tech in Okmulgee, Okla. He was a civilian supervisor for the U.S. Army in quality control at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant at the time of his retirement. Greg was a member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed leather work, taking photos and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma; son, Bruce Spartz; sister, Loretta Zaug; brothers, Vernon Spartz and Joseph Spartz.
Greg is survived by his daughter, Sharon Comstock and husband, Riley, of Independence, Mo.; sons, Mark Spartz and wife, Debbie, of Blue Springs, Mo., and Kevin Spartz and wife, Tammy, of Grain Valley, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Christy Spartz of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; sisters, Bernice Mack of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Sr. Muriel Spartz of Watertown, S.D.; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Spartz of Kranzburg, S.D., Wilma Spartz of Huron S.D., Judy Thyer of Iola, Kan., and Mary Smith of Bonner Springs, Kan.; brother-in-law, Jay Thyer and wife, Sharon, of Iola, Kan.; grandchildren, Barry Carnal and wife, Gloria, Debra Atkinson, Taylor Comstock, Angela Spartz-Darby, James Kinney and wife, Julie, Casey Spartz and fiancé, Lauren Acord, Brandon Roberts and wife, Tessa, Brooke Spartz, Briese Spartz, Nick Spartz and wife, Danielle, and Gregory Paul Spartz and fiancé, Britaney King; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Gregory will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at St. John LaLande Catholic Church, 805 N.W. R.D. Mize Road, Blue Springs, with Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 2 p.m. by Father Ron Elliott. Rosary will be at noon. Burial will be at Blue Springs Cemetery.
Contributions in memory of Gregory may be made to Catholic Community Hospice, 9740 W. 87th St., Overland Park KS 66212.
