DR. ROBERT PAYNE

DR. ROBERT PAYNE 03/10/2025 - 11/30/2025 Dr. Robert W. Payne, 90, began enjoying Heaven on November 30, 2025. He was born March 10, 1935, to Willard and Helen Payne, Trenton, Mo. In 1959, he married Phyllis Hammons and she survives. He attended Trenton school and graduated high school in 1953. He then graduated from Baylor University, Midwestern Theological Seminary, and received his doctorate from Luther Rice Seminary. He had the privilege of pastoring four churches, 1958-1988, where his love for people and his love for the Lord was exhibited. During those years, he gladly served as a trustee for Southwest Baptist University, as a member of the Executive Board of the Sunday School Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, and various committees in the Missouri Baptist Convention. During this 30-year period, he enjoyed participating in or leading six trips to the Holy Land, and traveling on mission trips to Venezuela, Taiwan, Ecuador, and Romania. He also was invited by Billy Graham to attend the Amsterdam gathering in 2000. This was indeed an honor for him to be there. In 1988, Bob entered full-time evangelism. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling to over 300 churches and preaching in revivals. He was blessed to have a faithful trustee board for his evangelistic association, Midwest Evangelism. Bob is survived also by his daughter, Cherise Still, grandson, Brady Still, and granddaughter, Abby Horton, and their spouses. Also surviving is a great-grandson, Rowan Still. In Psalm 127:3, the Bible says that "Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward for him." Bob was thoroughly blessed!
