Independence - Ruth H. Dodson, 88, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Cedarhurst of Blue Springs.
Ruth was born June 18, 1933 in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Fritz and Erna (Casutt) Mechler. After her marriage to an American soldier, she came to America in July of 1952, and became an American Citizen in 1956.
During this marriage, 4 children were born. Her former husband served 21 years in the United States Army where thy traveled to many foreign countries.
On July 3, 1974 she married Wallace "Pete" Dodson, who had 3 daughters from his previous marriage. Ruth is survived by her husband, Pete, Independence, MO, her children, Mandy Richards, Liberty, MO, Gerry McOsker and wife Stephanie, Florissant, MO, Stella McOsker, Liberty, MO, Debra Delancey, Hagerman, NM, her step-children, Connie Michalak, Maumee, OH, and Vickie Meyer and husband Richard, Tecumseh, MI. Ruth is also a grandmother to 6, great-grandmother to 12 and great-great grandmother of 2. She also has 7 step-grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. Ruth dedicated her life to her family.
Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 26, 2021 with her funeral service to immediately follow at 2:00 p.m., all at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, MO 64015. Memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
