I believe in celebrating a life rather than mourning the loss of a person.
John was better known to my brother, both Marines. They were closer in ages. I was the nuisance little kid brother that admired the "Big Guys" because they could do the things I couldn't like, drive cars and boats. I always enjoyed gatherings at Uncle John and Aunt Anna's. In later years I'd enjoy the occasional phone call from John reminiscing and always departing while laughing. Good Memories.

It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through.

I must down to the sea again, to the lovely sea and shore.
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by.
John, I'll have to sail alone now, with the thought of the warm sun upon our faces and the wind upon our backs.
Thank You for the camaraderie - on and off the high sea.

Dear Sarah, Ward and family:
I am saddened to hear of your loss, May now John finally rest in peace.
John (Whipper) was my Best Man and oldest dear friend.
I have prayed for him every night, but I guess it was now his time.
God bless all of your family.
My love, Oscar
