Marcia Pierz Obituary

Dr. Marcia Pierz
Dr. Marcia Pierz of Norwalk, CT, passed away at home on May 3, 2025, after a valiant and spirited year-long battle with cancer.
Born on July 6, 1935, in Bridgeport to Benjamin and Ann Goldstein Friedman, she grew up in that city, attending Harding High School and then Boston University. She was the first in her family to attend and graduate from college.
She had two daughters before going back to school, ultimately earning a PhD in counseling psychology from Heed University. She worked for many years as a psychotherapist in Fairfield, helping generations of local residents to live life more fully.
In 1997, she met the love of her life, Phillip Pierz, whom she married in 2000. They spent many wonderful years together, traveling to many countries, making long forays on their boat, Indulgence, dining out, attending the opera, reading side by side at their homes in Norwalk, Wells, Maine, and Florida, and always talking, epitomizing the idea of marriage as a long conservation. They virtually adopted each other's grown children and along the way nurtured and cherished a growing brood of grandchildren, ultimately numbering fifteen, and more recently two great-grandchildren.
Despite many health challenges throughout her life, she lived with verve and gratitude and always looked fabulous-to the end-with her long blonde hair, perfect makeup, tasteful bling, and colorful clothing on an elegant and erect carriage. She and Phil supported each other through many medical crises, emerging stronger as a couple each time.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip; children Laura Pierz and Jeff Rix, Lisa Mancini, Jackie and Jon Davis, Walter and Robbin Pierz, Elizabeth Stern, and Jennifer Stern and James Meigs; grandchildren Skye Perrine Rix; Ava Mancini, Joseph Mancini Jr., Sophia Mancini, and Gabrielle Mancini; Traci Davis, Paige Davis, Carlie Davis, and Alex Davis; Lindsey and Alec Gropman; Ashley Jacobs; Samuel Meigs and Abigail Swint, Ethan Meigs, and Benjamin and Debra Meigs; plus great-grandchildren Madison Meigs and Zoe Meigs. She is also survived by her dear friend, housekeeper and partner-in-shopping-and-home-decor Stella Ramirez, who worked with her for 27 years and cared for her so lovingly in her final days.
She was predeceased by darling grandson Russell Jacobs and her beloved sister Esther Jacobson, brother-in-law Art Jacobson, and niece Ellen Jacobson.
