NORMAN PAUL HERSHBERGER
MAXTON — Retired Army SSG Norman Paul Hershberger, 74, of 407 Wild Plum Road, Maxton, North Carolina, was born on Nov. 5, 1942, to the late Roy Paul Hershberger and the late Otie Lee Crihfield Hershberger in Roane County, West Virginia. He departed this life on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at Southeastern Hospice House, Lumberton, North Carolina.
Mr. Hershberger was a native of Clendenin, West Virginia, who proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. He was a professional truck driver for 30 years and also a carpenter doing metal work.
The funeral service for Mr. Norman Paul Hershberger will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at Heritage Funeral Home, Hardin's Chapel, Red Springs, North Carolina. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Bracey Jones Family & Friends Cemetery, Maxton, North Carolina. Rev. Carl Redding officiating.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 48 years, Linda Withrow Hershberger; a son, Shannon Leslie Hershberger (Lisa); a daughter, Shawn Leigh Hershberger and fiancé Travis McNeill; a brother, Erich Eugene Hershberger (Candace); two sisters, Sandra Lea Hershberger (David Mitchell) and Sharon Lynn Hershberger; a grandchild, Alexander Paul Hershberger; two nieces, Ericha Wilson and Lesli Beavers; three nephews, Daniel Hershberger, Matthew Brown and Christopher Beavers; a great-niece, Sadie Wilson; a great-nephew, Carter Brooks; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive from noon to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at Heritage Funeral Home, Hardin's Chapel, Red Springs, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers make donations to Southeastern Hospice House, Lumberton, N.C.
