Nancy Brown Smith

November 1, 1936 - May 28, 2025

Nancy Brown Smith, 88 passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025 at her home in Sumerduck, VA. She was born to Leon and Daisy Brown in Stevensburg, VA on November 1, 1936.

Nancy loved her community and was well known for years of cooking for the Sumerduck Ruritan Bluegrass Pickn' Parties. She loved her bluegrass music and loved to dance. Nancy was called the "animal whisperer" by her family and was very dedicated to all of her pets. She cherished her family and never missed a family event, she especially loved local outings with her dear friends Hazel Cooper and Darlene Constant.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Norman J. Smith (Jackie) as well as her brother, James Edward Brown, Thomas Maurice Brown and her sister Laura Mavis Brown.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Donna Arellano (Jose), Granddaughter, Jessica Cruz. Great grandchildren, Hunter Smith, Javier Rodriguez and Maria Izquierdro and the "light of her life", great- great grandson, Elliot Lee, "Little Man". Pascual Cruz (grandson-in-law). Sisters, Elizabeth Clay Corbin, Brenda Gray Green (Ed), brother L.F. Brown, Jr, and Laura Lee Smith, who she loved like a daughter. Nancy also leaves behind her beloved pets, Allie, Luna, Nosey, Nikki and Socks.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sumerduck Ruritan Club on Saturday, July 12 at 1:00pm. A private family graveside service will be held on July 13 at 2:30 at Sumerduck Baptist Cemetery.

Any donations may be made in her memory to the Sumerduck Ruritan Club, PO Box 92, Sumerduck, Va 22742.
