Edwin Alexander "Alec" Adams ,79, of Hume. VA passed away suddenly on August 9th at Fairfax Inova. Born in on February 23 in Olney MD to Edwin Osborne Adams Jr. and Louise H. Adams, nee Harris, he is survived by his wife of 56 years Betty Adams, his sister Rebecca Anne Adams, Annandale, his nephew Stephen Roellke also of Annandale, his niece Rachel Roellke-Smith(Larry) ,his great nephew Jonah Smith, Falls Church, his cousin Armand Harris (Charlotte) Columbia, his brother-in-law Paul Olander (Debra Lee), Decatur GA, and numerous cousins. He was pre-deceased by his father, his mother, and his brother, Stephen Hamilton Adams, USMC, who gave his life in Vietnam.

A life-long Howard Countian, he graduated from St. Paul's School for Boys, Brooklandville in 1964, the University of Virginia in 1968. After active combat duty in the area near LZ Ross in 1970, he stayed in the Reserves for 23 years, retiring as Lt.Col. He was very proud of his Marine Corps heritage; two of his uncles served with distinction in the Corps. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1974, embarking on a long and distinguished legal career. He was active in civic, legal, and political activities; he ran for state office twice.

But horses were his love and he rejoined the equestrian world doing distance riding, Arabian sport horse, but most of all, foxhunting. He was enamored of it with his three purebred Arabians. He as a member of Howard Co-Iron Bridge Hounds, which his great Aunt

Alda Hopkins Clark founded and of Potomac Hunt and Goshen Hounds. He capped many places, including New Mexico, Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, and Colorado. His move to Fauquier Co brought him immense joy.

Memorial services will be held at Leeds Episcopal Church on August 22nd at 11:30 with internment and Reception to follow.
