Linda Compton Obituary

Linda Joan Compton

December 9, 1947 - November 15, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and "Maw Maw," Linda Joan Compton, on Nov. 15, 2025. Linda was born on Dec. 9, 1947, to the late Edna F. and Boyd L. Bott.

A woman of kindness, strength, and quiet wisdom, she touched every life she encountered with her gentle presence.

Linda was devoted to music, singing in many church choirs or simply singing on the front porch - she truly had the voice of an angel.

She had a gift for bringing people together, whether through shared meals around a crowded table, joyful front-porch singing or long, laughter-filled evenings grilling out. Her love was unwavering and unconditional; it didn't matter who you were or where you came from - she made everyone feel seen, welcomed, and cherished.

Linda is survived by her husband of 55 years, Darrell Compton; her children Adam (Lisa), Lori, and Patrick (Meghan); her brother Lowell (Vicki) Bott; sister-in-law Ruth Bott; and sister-in-law Teresa Compton. Her greatest blessings were her grandchildren - Tabatha, Samantha, Kayla, Katelyn, Ayden, Lauren, Tristan, and Brandon - and her great-grandson Malachi, who was the apple of her eye. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ralph Bott and Loring Bott.

Known for the warmth of her hugs and the stories she shared, Linda had a rare gift for turning any place into a place of comfort, laughter, and love. She created a legacy that continues to hold us gently: a legacy of joy, connection, and the kind of togetherness that only she could inspire.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit lingers in every gathering she once brightened, in every song she ever sang, and in every cherished memory she leaves behind.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at 33 S. 3rd Street in Warrenton.

This is a hard one. Linda and her family have been part of my family for decades. They have blessed our family at weddings, funerals, and retirement parties with songs of love, joy, and compassion. I am blessed to call her my friend and sister. One particular memory I treasure is a trip to her home in West Virginia, where she shared with me how she was raised. So different from my upbringing. She didn't stop there; she taught this chick from Teaneck, New Jersey, how to process a deer. Whenever I hear this song think of Linda. "CHILDREN GO WHERE I SEND THEE".......He sent Linda
