Velita Lorraine Hart, 78, of Sumner, formerly of Alpha, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025.

Born on July 21, 1947, Velita dedicated her life to caring for others. Her career spanned over four decades as a CNA, serving with compassion and dedication in nursing homes located in the Fredericksburg and Sumner areas.

Velita was known for her loving spirit and generous heart. She found joy in cross-stitching and crocheting, often creating thoughtful gifts for those around her. She cherished car rides, cooking and baking for loved ones, and spending quality time with family and friends. Her faith became very important to her, and she was connected to both Alpha Methodist and the Lutheran church in Sumner.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Melissa (Gene) Shindelar and Angela (Tim) Bollman; grandchildren Calvin Klimesh, Haley Klimesh, Brody (Katie) Woods, Ali (Austin) Woods, Tanner (Lexi) Bollman, Laura (Kayden) Bollman, and Kristina (Reed) Upton; and great-grandchildren Isabella and Kaidrian. She also leaves behind her siblings, Roy (Vicki) Shurtleff, Patrick Shurtleff, and Rachel Johnson (late Joe Rohde); Nephews, Travis (Joan) Johnson, Bud (Kara) Johnson, and special friends Chris and Gloria Patti, along with many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Velita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Garold Hart; her son, Garold Hart Jr.; her parents, Lavern and Florence (Wickman) Shurtleff; as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

A woman of warmth and kindness, Velita touched many lives through her care and presence. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
