Johnnie Grove Obituary

Retired Special Forces Sgt. 1st Class Johnnie Edward Grove, 66, of Fayetteville, passed away from this life Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, in his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Johnnie Grove was a Vietnam War veteran. After 20 years of military service, he went on to work for the United States Postal Service while becoming a valued member of the community. He was an active member of Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a devoted member of the men's choir. The beloved Mr. Johnnie Grove is survived by his wife, Ethel; daughters, Anita and Andera; son, Johnnie and his wife, Brandi; granddaughters, Syretta, Jessica, Destinee, Kali and Elena; and a great-grandson, Austin. Services with full military honors will be conducted at noon Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, in Lewis Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation for friends will be from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, with services beginning thereafter. The family will receive friends at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the Johnnie Edward Grove Pre-Med/Nursing Scholarship Fund. Make checks payable to the Johnnie Edward Grove Pre-Med/Nursing Scholarship Fund. Checks can be mailed to Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 5422 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304 or to 1504 Edgeware Court, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
