Martha Louise Downing

EASTOVER - Mrs. Martha Louise Downing, 63, of 2225 Tom Geddie Road, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, in her residence. She was born April 13, 1946, to the late Alton Benjamin Parker Everage and Nancy Jane Cornett Everage in Knott County, Ky. Mrs. Downing worked at Purolator for 37 years. She is survived by her husband, W. Roy Downing Sr. of the home and three babies, Lucky, Precious and Baby Girl; daughters, Deborah Mann of Fayetteville and Melissa Booth of Fayetteville; sons, William Roy Downing Jr. and wife Nancy of Hope Mills, and Howard Leon Hamilton and wife Kelly of Hickory; brother, Danny Messer and wife Stacy of Hindman, Ky.; sisters, Patricia Ann Zaganas and husband Thomas of Hindman, and Anna Gay Ragland and husband Martin of Clarksville, Tenn.; two granddaughters; and eight grandsons. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, July 2, 2009, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home, 500 Ramsey St., Fayetteville. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, in the Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Rodney Barwick and Elder David Hogan officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Cancer Center, c/o Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, 1638 Owen Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28304. The Downing family has entrusted services to Rogers and Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
