Ruby Shirley Obituary
Parkton—Ruby Stewart Shirley, age 87 of Parkton, NC, passed away December 17, 2018 peacefully with family by her side.
Ruby was instrumental in helping to establish several churches for the Church of God of Prophecy throughout North Carolina. Many of them funded by cooking thousands of apple pies and selling them at State Fairs and anywhere they would let her set that fryer. She was active as a believer from her teens.
Ruby is survived by her children, Charles (Jan), Joe, Rhonda, Lenwood, Curtiss (Jackie) and Donald (Sandra); her sister, Iris Kay Tatum; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, L.O. Stewart; her mother Rachel; three brothers, Troy, Delbert, Adolph and one sister Helen White.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18 at the home of Kay Tatum, 5320 Ballester Street, Hope Mills.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 19 at White Oak Family Worship Center, 1932 Burney Rd, White Oak, NC. Visitation will be from 1 - 3 p.m. with the service starting at 3 p.m. Graveside services will follow at the Church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ruby's memory to the Breezewood Church, Hope Mills, NC.
Funeral services entrusted to Revels Funeral Home, Lumberton, NC.

Sis Ruby ran my first Revival at Carthage for me in 1976. She brought two of her children with her. We will always remember her steadfast belief in God and the Church and her outgoing love she gave to all. God bless your families. Pastor Stan Carter

I have always had the deepest respect for Mrs. Ruby Shirley. I thought highly of her and I know with out a doubt if anybody is in heaven rejoicing with the almighty God it is you. Prayers to the Family and She was always kind and wonderful to me. But, I know She is where she wants to be. She was a mighty little power house for God. Thank you for your kindness Mrs. Shirley. Thank you for sharing your testimony with me. I appreciate your kind words and always having a positive out look and telling it like it was. I loved your honesty. Thank you.
