I served under Col. Richardson at Ft. Bragg in the 80s, it was an honor to have served with a soldier of the Colonels caliber.
The Army can teach soldiers to command, Col. Richardson knew how to lead men, and he always lead from the front.
Rest In Peace Colonel, you will be missed.

I was his assistant in his last year or so on duty at Ft Bragg! During that time we shared some great times together , he was a true soldier and should have been promoted to Brigadier General but the army was certainly not paying attention ! Last time I talked to him was December 2010 ,unfortunately, as he asked me to comment on his book " Valleys of Death" we musted have talked for an hour not only discussing his book but the times we had together! Scouts Out Old Bill I´ll see you soon at Fiddlers Green! Pete

I was so saddened to hear of Bill passing. My sister and I had the honor of meeting him at several Korean War POW reunions along with Claire. My father was Fredrick Giroux whom he spent time with prior to being captured. I send my deepest condolences to his family.

Colonel Richardson was a role model in my Army career and his life values inspired me in civilian life and my own role as a parent/husband.

Col. Richardson was the most dynamic leader I had in 45 years of military and civilian life. He and Claire we're a model couple, and remained caring friends to the many people lucky enough to have served with them.

My sincere condolences to the all the Richardson family especially since they just lost their mother a week before. Col. Bill and Clair were in love until death and are together for eternity. They will be missed by me and thousands of lives they touched.
