Floyd Hollis Bunton

1933 - 2023

Floyd Hollis Bunton, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at his home in Yulee.
He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family. Mr. Bunton was born in Alma, Georgia and has lived in the Jacksonville area since 1954. He was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church and a member of the Side Camp Hunting Club in Homerville, Ga. for more than 35 years; he enjoyed fox hunting with his dogs all his life. With 30 years at St. Regis Paper, his work would take them to Pensacola, Fla. where, after 35 years, Mr. Bunton would retire with Champion International Paper. His love for fishing was surpassed only by the love he had for his family. Three days a week you could find Mr. Bunton with a fishing pole in hand, on the water with his friend Mark.
Mr. Bunton was preceded in death by his son: James "Terry" Bunton (survived wife Sherry); 3 brothers: Aldean, Charles and Billy Bunton and 2 sisters: Roma Kouroupis and Christine Cram. He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Betty Bunton; son: Floyd "Jerry" Bunton (Linda); six grandchildren: Trent Bunton (Alison), Mallori Bunton (Todd), Jeremy Bunton, Renee Bunton, Brandon Shinn (Tiffany) and Kayla Sikes; seven great-grandchildren: Tanner, Grant, Raelin, Hailey, Morgan, Logan and Reiley and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at Grace Baptist Church, 13290 Ranch Road with Rev. William Forde officiating. His family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with service following directly after.
Burial will follow in Bosque Bello Cemetery in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
