James Callahan Obituary
CALLAHAN
James Patrick Callahan, 74, of Wilder, Ky., passed away on November 30, 2013 at Carmel Manor in Fort Thomas, KY. He was a retired office manager for Carlisle Construction Co., Wilder. Mr. Callahan retired in 2004 after 18 years as the Kentucky State Representative for the 67th District; he also taught at Newport Catholic High School. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Helen Callahan. Mr. Callahan is survived by his wife Diane Callahan of Wilder, KY, his daughter Shari (Eric) Gearding of Wilder, KY and his son Brian (Jennifer) Callahan of Cold Spring, KY; his 9 grandchildren Deegan, Shea, Rylie, Kailey, Jack and Gavin Gearding and Lia, Brennen and Larah Callahan; sister Peggy Callahan of Southgate, KY, and brothers Richard "Dick" Callahan of Villa Hills, KY and Bob Callahan of Florence, KY. Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 4 to 8 PM at the Southgate Community Center, 301 W. Walnut St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, 10 AM, at St. Therese Church, Southgate, Kentucky. Burial will take place at St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas, Kentucky. The Muehlenkamp-Erschell Fort Thomas Funeral Home is serving the Family. Memorials are suggested to Carmel Manor, 100 Carmel Manor Road, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075; Newport Central Catholic High School, the Jim Callahan Scholarship Fund, 13 Carothers Road, Newport, Ky. 41071 or Parkinson's Wellness, 260 Stetson Street, Suite 2300, Cincinnati, Ohio 45267. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know how hard it is to stand by & watch a loved one pass on. The thing that kept me going was knowing my hubby was no longer hurting. Jim was my first Basketball coach at St. Anthony's and coached me at NC. Jim built within us a solid foundation that we still rely on today. Thanks Coach for all you did for me and my family in Bellevue. Jim was a good man who will be missed by many. We will keep Jim and his Family in our thoughts and prayers.
