Catherine M. Kraus

Fond du Lac - Catherine M. Kraus, 95, of Fond du Lac, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Woodlands Senior Park. She was born October 19, 1922, the daughter of Nick and Louisa (Wagner) Koenigs. On November 20, 1940 she married Gregory H. Kraus at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg. She was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Church. Catherine and her husband farmed the Koenigs homestead until 1975 at which time her son took over operation of the farm. Now her grandson operates the homestead.

She is survived by seven daughters and one son, Mary Ellen (Neal) Schwantes, Pat (George) Schmidbauer, Dianne (Donald) Sippel, Joe (Eileen) Kraus, Janet (Jack) Braatz, Joan (Dick) Braun, Sharon (Dale) Muellenbach, and Joyce (Mike) Mann; eighteen grandchildren; two step grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; one step great grandchild. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruno (Lillian) Kraus, Lorraine Kraus-Havey, Martin (Jane) Kraus, and Mary Kraus; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law; her husband, Gregory; son-in-law, Clayton Krebsbach; grandson, Chad Braatz; sister, Amanda (Leo) Freund; brother, Hugo (Ann) Koenigs; brothers and sisters-in-law, Esther Pitzen-Halbach, Elvira Kraus, Leander Kraus, Jerry Havey, Edmund Kraus, Lyle Pitzen, and Melvin Halbach; nieces and nephews.

Catherine always made time for loved ones and friends and was known to always have home baked goodies ready to send with any lucky visitors.

The visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg. Cremation has taken place and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Woodlands Senior Park and Agnesian Hospice for their care and compassion to our mother and all the family.
