James Meyer Obituary

Meyer, James

James R. Meyer, 69, of Campbellsport passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, while golfing with friends at Camelot. He was born in West Bend on June 30, 1947, the son of John and Irene (Ketter) Meyer. Jim graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1965. On February 17, 1968 he married Kristine Koenigs at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Campbellsport. Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969 and graduated from UW-Plattville in 1973. He worked for Scott Paper Company and from 1978 to 1992 operated Meyer Ford-Mercury in Campbellsport. He later worked for Ernie Von Schledorn Ford-Mercury in Lomira, Service Motors in Fond du Lac and retired from Holiday Ford in Fond du Lac in 2012.

Jim was a member of Campbellsport and Camelot Golf Leagues, St. Matthew Parish, Campbellsport Athletic Association - helping to initiate the Annual Dinner event which continues today, the Campbellsport Lions Club, and many softball teams. He loved golf and his golfing buddies, was a huge fan of the Campbellsport Cougars, Badgers and Packers and enjoyed his bowling leagues. Jim was an avid sportsman of hunting and fishing. He loved hunting trips to North Dakota with Todd and "the guys" and fishing trips with Jason up north. Jim especially enjoyed time with his precious grandchildren - they called him "Crazy Grandpa". He loved his cigars and manhattans and especially enjoyed retirement, spending the last 4 winters in Florida with Kristie.

Those left behind to cherish Jim's memory include his wife Kristie, his son Todd (Nicole) Meyer of Grafton and Jason Meyer (Jodie) of Oshkosh, his grandchildren Ariana, Teague and Tyson, his sister Karen Kordick of St. Louis,MO, his brother Joseph (Dale) Meyer of Milwaukee, his sister-in-law Bonnie (Ron) Tagliapietra, his brothers-in-law Tim (Kathy) Koenigs and Dean (Peggy) Koenigs, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 31st at 6:00 PM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 406 E. Main St. Campbellsport. Rev. Mark Jones will officiate.

Visitation will be Friday, March 31st from 2:00 PM until time of Mass at the Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial are appreciated to Campbellsport Athletic Association or the Campbellsport Cougar Club.

Dearest Kristie, Todd, Jason, & Jim's whole family,

Kurtis and I are heartbroken to hear of Cousin Jim's passing. Sixty-nine really is tragically young, especially for a man as lively as Jim. I rather imagine the memory that everyone shares best is the sound of Jim's laugh. He was the very definition of Bon Vivant (someone who knows and celebrates the joys of life).

We are so sad that the world has lost such a good man who brought happiness to the world. Kurtis and I send all of you our deepest sympathies.
