John Treptow Obituary

Treptow, John W.

John W. Treptow, 69, of Lamartine, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 12, 2012, in Brownsville.

He was born on July 18, 1943, in Fond du Lac, a son of Walter W. and Lucille E. Meyer Treptow.

John served in the United States Army and then married Shirley A. Wiese on April 15, 1967.

He worked at Mercury Marine and then at Rigg's Marine. Throughout his working career, he also worked the family farm, where he was able to drive his favorite brand of tractor, International. One of his favorite sayings was, "If isn't red, leave it in the shed". In addition to driving a red tractor while he was working, his favorite pastime was camping.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Treptow; a daughter, Christine (Andrew) Peters; a brother Robert (Sandy) Treptow; three sisters: Doris (Bruce) Kastorff, Betty (Richard) Rozek, and Lois (Bill) Brasch. He is further survived by his wife's two sisters, Bonnie (John) Dowidat, and Karen (Alan) Rebedew; her brother, Lloyd "Randy" (Carol) Wiese; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and John's dog and faithful companion, Dolly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Kevin Treptow, on November 16, 2005.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 245 S. Second Street, Oakfield, with Rev. Christopher Goelzer officiating.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, and on Friday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial and military rites will be conducted at Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.
