Lydia Tagliapietra Obituary

Lydia Tagliapietra

Madison - Lydia Mary Tagliapietra (nee Triatik), age 99 (2 ½ months short of 100), passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, at Madison Pointe Senior Living, Madison Wis.

Lydia was born May 3, 1920, the fourth of six children to John and Sophia Triatik, in North Fond du lac, Wis. She grew up in North Fond du lac and lived at home until her marriage to Bruno Tagliapietra on July 11, 1942. They lived and farmed in Eden, Wis., where she spent many years as a housewife. She was well known for her spaghetti and meatballs, apple pies and zucchini bars. Most certainly an excellent cook and a mother who loved her sons without abandon! Everyone who knew Lydia expected kisses, hugs and laughter. Her presence was well known and appreciated.

She was a long-time member of St. Mary's Parish in Eden, Wis. She and Bruno moved to Madison in 2007.

Lydia is survived by her sons, Danny (Dru), of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Jeffrey (Sue), of Madison, Wis.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is further survived by sister-in law, Elaine Triatik; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bruno; parents, John and Sophia; sister, Anne Timmers; brothers, Dan, Cub, Ray and Fred; and many friends.

We want to thank Agrace HospiceCare and the staff at Madison Pointe for their kind and able care of Lydia. You know she loved you and your pockets!!!!!! Also thank you to Father Michael Radowicz from St. Bernard Parish for your visits and spiritual support.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family requests that memorials be directed to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711 or St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2438 Atwood Ave, Madison, WI 53704.

Jerry & Carol Triatik

It will be a year tomorrow that she passed away. I remember when I was young and was staying a few days at the farm in Eden. The only time I remember my Aunt being upset with me was when I picked a pair off their tree and it wasn't ripe yet. I didn't get a kiss and hug like I usually get at that time.
Carol and I were looking forward to visit with her when we came back from FL but she passed before we got back. She is truly missed but she is now with Uncle Barney and I'm sure he is telling her his good jokes.

My sympathy to all of you. Your mom was lovely. I enjoyed talking to her and visiting with her when she and your dad were our neighbors in Eden.

She was a wonderful lady and an aunt who always gave me huggs & kisses (Jerry). Carol and I were looking forward to her 100th birthday party. We were sad to hear she passed away and will be missed. We are in FL and will miss the gathering on the 21st - so sorry we will miss it. Barney and Lydia will now be back together.
