Mark Anders Obituary

Anders, Mark E.

Mark Edward Anders, 60, a resident of Fond du Lac, passed away May 5, 2016 at St. Agnes Hospital. His wife, Robin, was his constant support throughout his fight with cancer. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his entire family.

He was born November 24, 1955 in Fond du Lac; a son of Edmund A. and Margaret A. (Hau) Anders.

On October 20, 1979, he married Robin L. Bakos at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fond du Lac.

Mark was a graduate of St. Mary's Springs High School and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he earned a degree in finance. Mark was co-owner and operator with his brother Chuck and sister Jane, of Anders Auto Parts, Fond du Lac, a member of the Wisconsin Automotive Parts Association and a PPG Platinum Distributor. He was active in many local sports activities, including coaching soccer and donating his time to Blue Line Hockey and Figure Skating. Mark served on the F.A.C.E.S. board of directors and chaired the St. Mary's Parish Festival, both for several years. He also served on the parish council. He was a member of Holy Family Parish and the Knights of Columbus Council #664. He enjoyed teaching, woodworking, coaching, gardening and landscaping, cars, auto parts, paints, spending time with his grandchildren, being outdoors, playing cards, trips to Door County with his wife, and supporting his children in music, art and sports. He was an avid University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point soccer fan, and a Verona Grove "critic".

Survivors include his loving wife Robin; his children: daughter, Kelly (Jim) Krause and granddaughter, Paisley of Fond du Lac; son, Tony (Heather) Anders and granddaughter, Adelyn of Appleton; daughter, Ashley (fiancé, Jason Thomas) Anders of Appleton. He is further survived by his sister, Jane (John) Schuppe, brother Chuck (Ann) Anders, sister, Phyllis (Rick) Brink all of Fond du Lac, brother Don (Barb) Anders of Wautoma, and sister Clare (Steve) Jones of Winneconne, his mother-in-law, Helen Bakos of Fond du Lac, his father-in-law, John (Carolyn) Bakos and Danielle of Fond du Lac, sister-in-law, Ronda Bakos of West Bend, 16 nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and friends.

Robin,
40 years ago, when I chose Mark to be the Best Man at my wedding, it was not a thoughtless choice. Even in his youth, Mark made an impression on me that has lasted a lifetime and I consider myself blessed to have had Mark as a friend. His gentle nature, thoughtfulness and selflessness have been Mark's characteristics his whole life. He truly was the "Best Man" and remains so to this day.
May your faith comfort you during the difficult times ahead and may the Lord's promise of everlasting life guide you in the future.

I remember Mark as a person who was nice to everyone. It is sad to think he is no longer with us. He left too soon. I'm sure that he no longer has to endure pain. He was a special type of individual. I am thankful for having known him.
