The former Marlene Petrie was born February 6, 1935 in the Town of Marshfield near St. Joe to the late Alex and Regina (Feldner) Petrie.

She attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1953. On September 24, 1955, she married Howard A. Sippel at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe. Howard preceded her in death earlier this year on May 23, 2013.

In her early years before marriage she had worked at the Kohler Co. After marriage, she had worked at Wells Mfg. in Fond du Lac and sold Fuller Brush products in the local area. In 1971, she went to work at Tolibia Cheese in Fond du Lac. She retired as a foreman in 1984 due to health issues.

She was a member of St. Isidore Parish-St. Cloud Church in St. Cloud and the Christian Women's Society. In addition to working, she, along with her husband built their home and raised five children. The upbringing of her family also entailed lots of canning which they continued to do for them as they grew up and left the nest. Many a jar of pickles, jams, and jellies were produced and the grapes from their concord vines in their back yard were used to make them; as well as a batch of wine once in a while.

Survivors include her five children, Michael (Lisa) Sippel of Malone, Janice (Fred) Wallo of Plymouth, Lawrence "Larry" Sippel of Fond du Lac, Paul (Sukanya) Sippel of Orlando, FL, and James (Helen) Sippel of St. Cloud; seven grandchildren, Sean Sippel, Melissa Buchholz, Chris Rosenthal, Nadine (Josh) Neuhaus, Loren Johnston, Hanna Sippel, and Alex Sippel; two great-granddaughters, Kyrsten and Danika Neuhaus; her brother, Ronald (Mary) Petrie of St. Cloud; a brother-in-law, Marvin (Donna) Korb of Fond du Lac; her sisters-in-law, Evangeline "Vangie" Karls of Fond du Lac, Peggy Sippel of Voorheesville, NY, and Donna Entringer of St. Cloud; and her four legged friends, Chloe, Sing, and Chet. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Howard, she was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Regina Petrie; her sister, Geraldine Korb; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Rose Sippel; brothers-in-law, Hubert (Eleanore) Sippel, Eugene Sippel, Clem Karls, Vernon "Bud" (Elizabeth "Elsie") Sippel, and Harold Sippel; and her sisters-in-law, Vernetta (Raymond) Stephany and Laura Mae Sippel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at St. Isidore Parish-St. Cloud Church 924 Main Street St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Gary Wegner OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery.
