Maurice "Mike" Burk

Maurice James Burk, age 78 of Dalton, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Markesan Resident Home.

Mike was born on January 15, 1938 in Columbus, WI, a son of Dennis and Catherine (Leahy) Burk. At a young age he was taken in by Thomas and Agnes Leahy. On April 16, 1966 he was united in marriage to Carol Zinkgraf at St. Louis Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Mike was avid in the farming community including FFA and 4H. Farming was his life. He loved animals and enjoyed attending horse pulls. Mike also enjoyed playing cards, watching sports and was very proud of his Irish heritage. He was very family oriented.

Mike is survived by his wife Carol; Son, Steve (Shelly) Burk of Fond du Lac, daughter, Sarah (Matt) Schroeder of Cascade, son, Clint Burk of Dalton and daughter, Karen Klabunde of Neenah; 8 grandchildren, Rochelle Burk, Jordan Ratliff, Dylan Burk, Kylie Burk, Brianna Schroeder, Maddison Schroeder, Graison Klabunde and Wyatt Klabunde; 5 Brothers, Pat Burk, Dennis (Rosemarie) Burk, John (Sharon) Burk, Bill Burk and John Leahy; twin sister, Mary Campion; sister, Mary Kearns; 2 sisters-in-law, Regina Burk and Joan Leahy; 2 brothers-in-law, David Williams and Clarence Resop; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis, Catherine, Thomas and Agnes; 2 brothers, Terry Burk and Jim Leahy; 5 sisters, Delores (Al) Lynch, Monica (Jack) Curtis, Katie Williams, Agnes Resop and Anna (Dan) Cotter; 2 brothers-in-law, Kelly Campion and Morrie Kearns; 2 sisters-in-law, Beatrice Burk and Bonnie Burk.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Holy Family Parish St. Mary's Catholic Church, 177 Pearl Street, Kingston.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Markesan Community Funeral Home, 868 North Margaret Street, Markesan and on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service at church with Rev. Paulraj Sellam officiating.

A memorial fund has been established in Mike's name to be decided at a later date.

Markesan Community Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mike was a great contributor and friend to 4-H and Green Lake County Farm Bureau. I enjoyed serving with him for many years on the Farm Bureau board of directors. He is greatly missed but he is now in a better place with God.
