Mildred Schreiber Obituary

Schreiber, Mildred Leona née Loehr

Mildred was received into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, August 15, 2012, with her family at her side.

Even as her body grew weaker, her spirit remained strong, as did her love for her family and her faith in the Lord.

She was born August 6, 1925, on the Seibel homestead, Town of Empire, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin the daughter of Reinhard and Julia Seibel Loehr.

She was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Town of Forest, Fond du Lac County, WI, on Aug 30, 1925, and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac on April 2, 1939. She was a graduate of Winnebago Lutheran Academy, Fond du Lac, the class of 1942, and a member of Emanuel Lutheran church, New London. Throughout her life, and especially in her later years, she was comforted by her Confirmation verse: Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

In 1948, she married John F. Hamilton at Redeemer Lutheran church, Fond du Lac. When her children were growing up, she was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran School PTA, sang in the church choir, and was also a member of the Sweet Adeline's Inc. Barbershop Chorus.. She was involved with her children's 4-H projects, music lessons, and school activities.

May 10, 1967 she married Donald C. Schreiber at First English Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. Mildred previously worked at Presto Products, Weyauwega.

Don and Millie were very active in the Association for Retarded Citizens, holding many offices, and tireless advocates. In recognition of their accomplishments, they both received many awards. She was a member of VFW auxiliary, Readfield homemakers and supported her sons' Boy Scout Troop No. 42. Mildred also participated in the Lutheran church bible study groups, served on the Social ministry, and Altar committees. After retirement, Don, Millie and Donna enjoyed their road trips throughout the United States, never traveling with a set itinerary.

Mildred was truly a blessing to all whose lives she touched and will be greatly missed. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great- great-grandmother. She was very proud of her family. She will continue to live through the warm memories of all those who knew her. We may take comfort knowing she is in God's arms.

Funeral services for Mildred will be Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Brian Hennig officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. She will be laid to rest beside her late husband in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Readfield.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire staff at St. Joseph Residence for their loving care of our mother, and Heartland Hospice for the extended care during her final weeks. A special thank you to Katie Peters for her dedication and devotion to our Mother's comfort. May God Bless all of you.

Nothing in my hand I bring, Simply to Thy cross I cling
