Ruby Joeckel Obituary

Ruby Joeckel (nee Mustard), of West Bend, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012, from natural causes, after a long and full life.

Ruby was born in June of 1925, in Kennan, WI, and was one of five children born to George and Florence (nee Baker) Mustard.

She graduated from Phillips High School in Phillips, WI.

After high school, she relocated to Chicago and worked at a factory building B52 bombers for the World War II effort.

After the war, Ruby returned to Milwaukee and graduated from the Marvel School of Beauty Culture.

She met the love of her life, Virgil, at a party upon his return from serving in the Navy during World War II. They fell in love, married, and settled on the family farm in Jackson. They were married for 55 years and raised four children.

Ruby enjoyed visiting and playing cards with family and friends. She also enjoyed singing, traveling, and going to the theater.

Ruby had a strong spirit and was deeply religious. She loved to attend church and was a member of New Hope UCC in Jackson. Ruby had an outgoing personality and enjoyed meeting people.

She was recently a resident at Serenity Villa in Slinger, WI, and will be dearly missed by all the friends she met there.

Ruby is survived by her children: James Joeckel of West Bend; Randy (Linda) Joeckel of Beaver Dam; Dale Joeckel of Fond du Lac; and Tammy (Guy) Bezold of Allenton; treasured grandchildren: Daniel (Becca) Joeckel, Craig (Angie) Joeckel, Jackson Webb, Jennifer (John) Burfeind, Lance Joeckel, and Brittany Joeckel. She is further survived by her blessed great-grandchildren Marshall and Brittney Webb, Grace, Joseph, and Ella Burfeind, Andrew Joeckel and Gabriella Pass; brother Harold (Lorraine) Mustard of Irma, WI; sister-in-law June Day of West Bend; and countless other family and friends.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; her parents George and Florence Mustard; and sister, Irene.

SERVICES: A celebration of Ruby's life will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Dr. in West Bend with Pastor James Hill presiding.

VISITATION: Visitation will be held from 3 to 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, at the funeral home only.

Interment of ashes will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Washington County Memorial Park.

The family would like to express a special Thank You to the staff at Serenity Villa of Slinger for their care and compassion for Ruby during her stay.
