This afternoon I was telling my son about my history teacher. He said, "The best time to retire is in your 40's and then go back to work in your 50's."
I thought I should look that teacher up and visit him next time I'm in WI.
I just did a google search and found this site. What timing I have! It would have been so darn fun to have a chat with him . . . such a good guy!
Well, I took his great advice and saved my pennies. And maybe I'll start a second career after a few more years of retirement. Thank you, Mr. G.
He talked about his sons but I had no idea he had 5 sons! Whew! Thanks so much for sharing your dad with all his students. I'm certain we zapped much of his energy during the school day.
I feel fortunate he played a part in my life. May you all find comfort in sharing your wonderful memories.

I was at Springs when Coach Greifenkamp coached football. I didn't play football but was on the basketball team, and it was a kind word from Coach in study hall after a rare time I got to play extensively that I have never forgotten. Condolences to his family. He was one of a kind.

I have good memories of Coach Greifenkamp at SMSA in the late '60's, especially how he interacted with the students. He was engaging and friendly to all . . . a kind role model.

Our deepest condolences to the family. Tom was my mentor as I began my teaching/coaching career at St. Mary's Springs Academy, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He and his wife were devoted Catholics, raised a great family and will be missed.
