Ruby Barnes Obituary
Funeral services were held Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Sturgeon Christian Church in Sturgeon, with burial following in the Mt. Horeb Cemetery in Sturgeon. Visitation was held Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Fenton Funeral Chapel in Centralia.
Ruby was born on August 4, 1924 the daughter of Thomas Irvine and Rosa (Williams) Stevinson.
She graduated from Centralia High School in 1943.
Ruby married Raymond Leon Barnes on June 15, 1947 in her parent's home, he preceded her in death on June 10, 2002.
She was a member of the Sturgeon Christian Church, the Democratic Club, and the Eastern Star.
Ruby was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, and spending time with her family.
She was a cook for Sturgeon Schools for many years. Ruby received the Sturgeon Citizen of the Year Award in 1993.
Ruby is survived by her children, Linda Angle and husband Charles of Centralia, Larry Barnes and wife Paula of Moberly, Tom Barnes of Sturgeon, Steve Barnes and wife Lynn of Rolla; brother, Jim Stevinson of Branson; grandchildren, Kathy Hasekamp and husband David of Centralia, Wayne Angle of Columbia, Eric Barnes and wife Mindy of Columbia, Bret Barnes and wife Ashley of Auxvasse, Chad Barnes and wife Teri of Carthage, NC, Shannon Wright and husband Eric of Seminole, FL, Noah Barnes and wife Cayla of Columbia, Amanda Melloway and husband Jon of Hallsville, Zach Barnes and wife Megan of Moberly, Andrew Barnes of Columbia, Lisa Kist and husband Jeff of Kansas City, Kristi Scott of Clark; 30 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; many dear friends.
Along with her husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Carl Stevinson.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Sturgeon Christian Church, or the Mt. Horeb Cemetery in care of Fenton Funeral Chapel, 104 S. Collier Centralia, MO 65240.
