Alan, son of Roger McDonald and the late Gloria (Basso) McDonald, was born in Gardner on July 16, 1958, and lived there all of his life. He was a graduate of Narragansett Regional High School in Baldwinville, Class of 1976, and worked for several years as a blaster with Mass Blasting of Waltham and worked in the blasting industry for more than 20 years.
Alan loved the outdoors, most especially hunting and fishing. He also was a Harley Davidson enthusiast. Most important to him, however, were his children, who were a source of constant pride to Alan.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Lori A. (Thomas) McDonald; his father, Roger McDonald and his wife, Sue, of Saylersville, Ky.; three sons, Michael T. McDonald, Thomas R. McDonald and Jacob A. McDonald, all of Baldwinville; one daughter, Alannah M. McDonald of Baldwinville; two brothers, Steven R. McDonald of Rindge, N.H., and David P. McDonald and his wife, Brenda, of Athol; one sister, Pearl M. Fuller and her husband, Frank, of Phillipston; and many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
MCDONALD -- You are invited to attend the visiting hours in Lamoureux-Fletcher Community Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10. His funeral will be held in the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. Rev. Edward Neuhaus will officiate. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner. Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the McDonald Children’s College Fund, C/O Workers Credit Union, 171 Main St., Gardner, MA 01440.
