Albert Page Obituary

Fitchburg

Albert "Bert" Joseph Page passed away June 11, 2021 at the age of 94 at Fitchburg HealthCare surrounded by his devoted family.

He was born in Fitchburg on July 9, 1927, the oldest son of Albert E. Page and Amanda (Lorion) Page.

He graduated from St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School. Bert proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy and later attended the Schillinger House in Boston (now Berklee School of Music).

He worked as a machinist at Standard Tool & Die and Burton Tool & Die in Leominster.

He read constantly and there would always be a pile of library books around him for his nightly read. The librarians at the Fitchburg Public Library knew him well and would call him if a book came in that they thought he would enjoy.

Bert was always drawing or painting. He would paint portraits and hang them on the wall. Later he would make changes to the painting while it was still on the wall. He would laugh about it, he could find the humor in anything.

He was an accomplished artist, photographer, and most of all a musician. He loved playing the piano, bass violin and listening to jazz from the big band era.

His greatest joy in life was his very large family. Dinner at the Page household was a noisy event with eleven or more people at the table all talking at the same time about their day while Bert would listen. After every meal, Bert would look at Jennie and say "Thank you for the lovely meal Jennie. You kids thank your mother." Sunday afternoons often included a long after dinner walk. Bert loved to walk!

He would play classical & jazz music and quiz the family asking what instrument was being played or who wrote the song. He would hand out portions of the newspaper to the youngest and say "here, read this out loud" to encourage reading. He was a natural teacher.

The home was always full of family, friends and music. Friends were always welcome.

Bert touched the lives of so many people. He will be remembered as kind and loving and funny. He will be forever missed.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Joan "Jennie" (Mealey) Page; nine children: Stephen R. Page of Leominster, Deborah (Page) Kemp of Fitchburg, Alison (Page) Phalan and her husband Neal of Stow, Ruth (Page) Casey of Leominster, Barbara (Page) O'Neill of Gardner, Matthew A. Page and his wife Margaret of Fort Mill, SC, Norah (Page) Braudis and her husband Mark of Stow, Barnaby M. Page and his wife Charlyn of Hilton Head, SC, Sarah (Page) Brooks and her husband Gary of Hilton Head, SC; nine grandchildren: Stephanie (Page) Krupysheva and her husband Alexander, Justin Kemp, Emily Page and her partner Kim Greene, Gwendolyn Casey, Laura O'Neill, Jennifer O'Neill, Marcus Braudis, Samuel Page and Max Page; two great grandchildren: Nikolai Krupyshev and Darya (Dasha) Krupysheva; a sister: Bernadette (Page) Cummings and her husband Donald; a sister-in-law: Margaret Page; daughters-in-law: Jan Page Larsen and Sandra Silveira-Page.

He was predeceased by his brother Robert Page, sister Theresa (Page) Howard and his son-in-law Donald G. Kemp. He leaves many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Fitchburg Healthcare for their compassionate care.
