Alva L’Ecuyer Obituary

LUNENBURG -- Alva (Leger) L’Ecuyer, 89, of Lunenburg, died peacefully on Easter Sunday in HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster with her family at her side.

She was born on July 2, 1918, in Fitchburg, the daughter of Napoleon and Florence (Lavoie) Leger, and was raised in Fitchburg. In 1947, she, along with her late husband, Francis “Ray” L’Ecuyer, moved to Lunenburg. For the last several years, she lived with her daughter, Joyce, also of Lunenburg. Alva enjoyed doing different crafts, playing cards, camping with family, going on long rides and playing dominos. She was a long-time member of St. Boniface Church in Lunenburg.

She leaves her daughter, with whom she lived, Joyce Marie L’Ecuyer of Lunenburg; her son, Francis R. L’Ecuyer Jr.; one sister, Emilia M. “Millie” Cardinal of Fitchburg; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; her special godson, Randy Lafarier; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Francis R. “Ray” L’Ecuyer, in 1994; her daughter, Linda Ann L’Ecuyer, in 1994; her brothers, Raymond, Daniel, George, Ernest, Robert, Richard and Frankie Leger; a sister, Edith Germain; and her grandson, Kevin, in 1990.

L’ECUYER -- The funeral will be held on Friday, March 28, from the Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Boniface Church, 817 Massachusetts Ave., Lunenburg, with the Interment to follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Fitchburg. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m.
