Antonio Salvatore "Mungie" Mangiacotti, 89 a lifelong resident of Leominster, passed away Tuesday, July 5th, 2022, after a period of declining health, with the family he loved gathered at his side. Family meant everything to him.

Mungie, is survived by the "love of his life" for over 65 years, Rachel J. (Levesque) Mangiacotti; four children, Anthony Mangiacotti and his partner Lisa Proia, Angela Mangiacotti, and Deborah Richard both of Leominster, Michele Gawronski and her husband Michael of Foxborough; ten grandchildren, Nicole, Michael and Julia Mangiacotti, Stephanie Weggeman and her husband Hans, Alexandra Papagno, Evan Richard, Barrett Richard, Timothy Richard, Daniel and Michael Gawronski; a great granddaughter, Evie Weggeman. Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Three brothers, Emidio DiPalma, Albert and Francis Mangiacotti and two sisters, his twin, Anna Jackson, Amelia DeCharles and a brother-in-law he was very close to, Leo J. Levesque all predeceased him. Mungie was born in Leominster, a son of Italian immigrants, Pasquale, and Benedetta (Marini) Mangiacotti. He joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving his country proudly. Tony and Rachel have lived, worked, and dedicated their life to family and the community in Leominster.

Tony's dedication to his family went far beyond the home which he built. He donated his time and much hard work to several organizations, including the Leominster Pop Warner and St Bernards High School. His interests went beyond that, including the New England Patriots, his grandchildren, and anything that included food. His lawn and gardening skills were near perfection. He was an active member of the Cristoforo Colombo Regina Elena Lodge No. 169, Order Sons of Italy in America, The Bishop O'Reilly assembly, fourth degree Knights of Columbus, and St. Anna's Knights of Columbus Counsel # 14425, The Italian Club, former Foggia Club, Lions Club, Franco Veterans, Elks Lodge and former Planning Board member all in Leominster. Mungie's unique entrepreneurial skills included the ownership and operation of 11 different successful businesses including Montachusett-Tocci Vault, Mungie's Restaurant and Back-A-House. Mungie's loyal and lovely wife Rachel was always by his side assisting him in every endeavor.

A period for friends and relatives to visit with the family will be held Monday, July 18th from 9 am to 11 am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am all held at St Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster Street, Leominster. His burial with Military honors will follow at St Leo's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to The Special Olympics of North Central Massachusetts, 879 Central Street, Leominster Mass, St Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster Street, Leominster or the Vets Inc, 69 Grove Street Worcester. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St Worcester is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
