Mr. Schultz was born on July 13, 1926 in Watervliet, N.Y. and graduated from Watervliet High School.
He was a ships cook in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1945-1949.
He had worked as an apprentice machinist at the Watervliet Arsenal and then worked as a machinist for W. & L.E. Gurley in Troy, N.Y. From 1948-1968, he was a manufacturing engineer at General Electric in Schenectady, N.Y. and then was manager of maintenance and plant facilities from 1968-1989 at General Electric in Fitchburg.
Arthur was a faithful member of the Congregational Church of Christ in Leominster, the GE Quarter Century Club, the GE Elfun Society and was a mentor in the Leominster School System through Elfun for six years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and spending time at his summer home on Lake Champlain in Willsboro Point, N.Y.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Reiner and her husband, Mark, of Brentwood, N.H., and Kathleen Allen of Ayer; three sons, William Schultz and his wife, Norma, of Leominster, Paul Schultz of Gardner and James Schultz and his wife, Katie, of Gardner; a sister, Marjorie Linder, and her husband, Bud, of Latham, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Schultz, and his wife, Dianne, of Lago Vista, Texas; seven grandchildren, Michael Smith of Holland, Penn., Alissa Reiner and Alexander Reiner, both of Brentwood, N.H., Daniel Schultz of Leominster, Damian Allen of Ayer and Tyler Schultz and Amanda Schultz, both of Gardner; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary E. (Gleason) Schultz, in 2004. He was also predeceased by his father, Augustus F. Schultz, his mother, Mary (Tryon) Schultz, and his birth mother, who died when he was 5 years old, Marie (Gentner) Schultz.
SCHULTZ -- Funeral services are private. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Congregational Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 583 Main St., Leominster, MA 01453. The Silas F.
