of Leominster; 56
LEOMINSTER - Barbara Ellen (Sleeper) Sargent, 56 years old, of Leominster, died unexpectedly of natural causes in her home on Saturday, August 25, 2018. She is survived by her son Nicholas J. Sargent and his fiancée Michele Cole of Jefferson; 5 siblings: Leslie S. Madge of Littleton; Frederick M. Sleeper, Sr. and his wife Beverly of Lunenburg; Susan S. Willey and her husband Mark of Belton, Texas; Janet S. Chambers and her husband James of Leominster; and Virginia M. McLeman and her husband Scott of Auburn, NH; nieces and nephews Brian, Kathy, Jennifer, Michelle, Ricky, Danielle, Racheal, Greg, Colleen, and Sara; and many grand-nieces and -nephews.
Barbara, the daughter of Donald N. and Theresa R. (O'Leary) Sleeper, was born January 9, 1962 and grew up in Burlington, MA. She graduated from Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro, NH and attended the University of New Hampshire as an English major. She has lived in Leominster for the past 23 years and worked at the Law Office of Madge & Johnson PC in Westford, MA. Barbara enjoyed reading, watching and discussing General Hospital, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. She had a life-long passion for Barvel Whang at Lake Winnipesaukee in Melvin Village, New Hampshire: "my second home" as she said. An avid animal-lover, she volunteered her time at pet shelters and adored her cats Rex and Baby. Barbara went out of her way to brighten the lives of others and lent all of her compassion to anyone's troubles. Her love, humor, and charm are each sorely missed.
SARGENT - Barbara's funeral service will be held on Friday, August 31st from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster, with a Mass at 10 am in Holy Family of Nazareth Church, 750 Union Street, Leominster. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, 84 Bedford Street, Burlington, MA at 1 pm at the Sleeper Family Plot. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 30th from 5-7 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats, 479 Northfield Road, Lunenburg, MA 01462. www.richardsonfuneralhome.net.

I was so saddened to hear of Barbara's sudden passing...our family's were joined when my oldest brother married her oldest sister. I have such fond memories of us as kids spending weekends at each others houses and at Brad and Leslie's house. And let's never forget those camping trips.
To the sleeper family, may God comfort you during this sad time.. my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
To heaven she soared. Perfect again. Death is never the end. Just goodbye until you unite again.
