Clarence Crocker Obituary

Fitchburg

Clarence E. "Ed" Crocker, Jr., 84, died peacefully after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on December 4, 2021, surrounded by the love of his wife and children. He died in his home of nearly 30 years, which was just two doors down from the house where he was born, on Townsend St.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Theresa J. "Terry" (Draleau) Crocker; four children: Larry Crocker of NH, Paula Wooten of Ohio, Sherry Crocker, and Laura Dupuis, both of MA; six grandchildren: Corey, Tyler, Alyssa, Celeigh, John and Nicole; four great-grandchildren: Brody, Peyton, Ava and Makiel; quite a legacy. He was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Wickstrom and Dorothy Flagg.

Ed was born and raised in Fitchburg, son of the late Clarence, Sr., and Evelyn (Swanson) Crocker and attended local schools. In 1956, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served for six years, leaving the military to prioritize his new and growing family.

Throughout the years, Ed established several businesses - from gas stations to automotive reconditioning, commercial home cleanouts, antiquing, and scrapping. However, none were more important to him than worshipping the Lord. Ed was a founding member of the Leominster Church of Christ, and continued to worship with them until his passing. Many of Ed's business ventures stemmed from his passion for helping others. Whether he was hiring part-time workers who needed a job, or teaching by example, he was always serving Him, by serving those who were less fortunate.

Burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon, will be private. In lieu of flowers, the Crocker family suggests that memorial donations be made to Leominster Church of Christ, 592 West St., Leominster, MA 01453. Arrangements are under the care and direction of McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton. Ed was a Godly man apparent to all who met him. I'll always remember Ed for the kindness he gave my Grandson, to allow him to work for him, and to earn some money whenever Ed had work available. Ed was kind to those in need. I will miss you Ed, so many of us will.

What I remember most about Mr. Ed brings to mind Psalm 90:17, May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. God provided Mr. Ed the wisdom and endurance to bring about work for the everyday people, and while doing so spoke highly of the Lord and his testimony of his salvation and the sanctification of the Triune God, which he inspired me to begin on a lifelong journey to salvation and sanctification. Providing work while evangelizing, thank you Brother Ed. You will be truly missed, but like our ancestors, we too are sojourners in this world. El' Shaddai- God Almighty had called you to come, and it was time to answer the calling before His son Christ Jesus. Psalm 90:1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations.

Uncle Ed you lived a beautiful life and you served Him well. Now you have gone home , to live in the house of the Lord. One day soon we will join you. You will be missed . May God keep your loved ones in his arms and comfort them in the solemn days ahead.
