Edward Howe Obituary

Edward Knight Howe, age 62, of Fitchburg, died at the Leominster Hospital sur-rounded by family on November 19, 2021, following a brief illness.

Born in Bethesda, Maryland and raised in Leominster, MA; he was the son of the late Willard B. Howe and June K. Williams. Following his graduation in 1976 from Leominster High School, Ed ventured on to graduate from Barnum & Bailey Clown College. Beginning in 1981, he served four years in the US Navy. Ed earned a BS in Animal Science in 1989, at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He recently retired from the U.S. Postal Service, after having worked 30 years as a mail handler in the Shrewsbury Processing and Distribution Center.

Ed had been a resident of Fitchburg for the past 25 years where he was an active member of the St. Joseph's Club. In his youth, Ed enjoyed commuting to school by unicycle. His hobbies included juggling, running and pool competitions at the St. Joseph's Club. He completed marathons in Boston and Burlington VT. A generous soul, he visited family and friends bearing gifts of vegetables from his garden, fresh catch from a fishing trip or milk and pies from a favorite farm stand. Together with Dorris, he had several adventures touring the country by motor home. Ed was an avid reader with a lifelong interest in journaling and written correspondence.

Ed leaves his beloved companion of many years, Dorris Stoshack of Fitchburg and three sisters and their spouses, Deborah King of Bloomfield, CT, Jennifer Thomas of Albany, NY and Helen Hughson of Groton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and dear cousins, Kristina Park and Jai Park.

An online service will be held on Sunday, December 12 at 1:00pm. Ed's many friends and family are welcome to attend. To join please contact one of his sisters or visit Ed's Facebook page for a link to the service

As I was looking for an address for Ed just to send he and Dorris a letter, I came across his obituary. Ed was such a friendly man. He was very intelligent and a terrific conversational. I don't know anyone who did not respect him. He was quick witted and truly a kind man. I'm so sorry that Dorris lost him. He told me once how truly devoted he was to her. I know she will miss him very much. Dorris, if you read this, I will be thinking of you still. Even though time has past I know you loved him dearly. Julie

Ed stayed at home in Buenos Aires, Argentina for two weeks in 1977. I've been trying to find him for all this years and today I receive this sad notice.
Would like to take contact with his family.

I am saddened to learn of Ed's passing, but take comfort in the fact that Christ has set him free. I know Ed loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and sought earnestly to be close to Him. He was a joy to be around, and will be greatly missed, until we see each other on the other side by the grace of God and rejoice in the VICTORY that is ours in Christ! Blessed be the Lord Jesus Christ for this unspeakable gift!

So sorry for your loss, I always enjoyed playing pool with ED and seeing him out on the various tours over the years. I seen him all over New England pool halls and of course at the St. Joseph Club in Fitchburg.

Ed was a great guy, enjoyed playing pool with him on our team and meeting him at various events. Only picture I could find of him I took in summer of 2018 out in Vegas sitting with my son.

Eddie was a dear family friend. I remember him teaching me how to juggle. His unicycle rides down to the lake were inspiring to all the neighbors. God bless his family.
